Polegate Make Ready Centre
Construction of a new 2,400 m2 steel framed purpose built regional Make Ready Centre to service, clean and equip ambulances and provide a central hub to the satellite response posts.
Constructed on a greed field site and to achieve BREEAM excellent.
Reinforced concrete pad foundations with a steel frame. The new building comprises a ground floor which is part garage space and part administration with mezzanine floor offices.
Profiled metal composite external cladding and roof. Internal linings are plasterboard and metal stud. The first floor construction is pre-cast concrete planks on load-bearing blockwork. The floor to the garage area is power floated concrete and the office areas are a mixture of carpet and vinyl. Aluminium windows and doors with roller shutters on the vehicle access doors
Conventional M&E services including a wet underfloor system. Controls are comparatively sophisticated because of a number of interfaces including with the external doors.
There were quite extensive external works with retaining walls to address the contours of the site and other hard landscaping works, tarmac areas etc but minimal soft landscaping. There is a fuel service facility with underground tanks and a vehicle wash provision.
