This project is to increase the learning space within the school and to allow two extra forms of entry for each year group. Benedict Primary School in Mitcham is located in a heavily populated residential area and all work is being carried out in an occupied school, with work programmed around pupils and staff to minimise disruption to both.
The project is split into three phases, one and two are now complete and phase three is on programmed to finish in the summer.
- Phase 1 saw the construction of a timber frame octagonal shaped nursery building.
- Phase 2 which completed earlier this year involved the refurbishment of the back of the main school, including plenty of ‘cut and carve’ to form classrooms and a large hall area.
- Phase 3 is located at the front of the existing building with refurbishment works to create a large reception area, further classrooms and offices, a larger hall and library.
